With our large fleet of locomotives, specialised freight wagons and our trained staff, we provide for the movement of goods every day in Italy and abroad, using both conventional and combined transport techniques. MERCITALIA RAIL implements sustainable development policies with special attention to safety and environmental protection: in 2021 rail transport took 1.7 million trucks off the road, thus helping to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases and other harmful substances (around 33 million tonnes of goods were transported in 2021, saving 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 compared with equivalent road transport
